Compare the editions

Everything in the open-source edition is included in the Enterprise Edition. Enterprise adds compliance governance, legal preservation, real-time capture and stronger authentication — the capabilities regulated organizations are asked to evidence.

FAQ

The open-source edition is free to self-host with community support. Enterprise Edition is a commercial license for the same self-hosted software, priced per seat, and it adds the compliance and advanced security capabilities regulated organizations need: retention policies, legal holds, the audit log, journaling and two-factor authentication.
You pay per seat on a recurring basis. Larger seat counts fall into lower per-seat tiers, shown in the per-seat pricing table.
Yes. You can cancel from the billing page at any time. Access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
A seat is one mailbox in the archive. Open Archiver counts the distinct email addresses it has archived mail for, directly from your own database, and reports that number when it verifies the license. Administrator logins and people who only search the archive are not counted.
Yes. Seat changes are handled by our team at the moment rather than in the billing page. Contact us and we will adjust your license. Self-service seat changes are planned.
Nothing is charged automatically. Your deployment reports its seat count when it verifies the license. If the count is above your plan, the license enters a 14-day grace period and the end date is shown on your license page. If the count is still above the plan when that period ends, Enterprise features are disabled until the license is updated. Contact us to raise the seat count.
Change the image tag from logiclabshq/open-archiver:latest to logiclabshq/open-archiver:latest-enterprise, set OA_LICENSE_KEY to your license key, and restart. Both editions use the same database schema, so your existing archive stays where it is. There is no re-import, no re-indexing and no migration.
Your license is issued as soon as you complete checkout, so you can set up the Enterprise deployment during the trial. You are not charged until the trial ends, and cancelling before it ends means you are not charged at all.
Yes. A 15-day money-back guarantee applies to your first payment, once per customer. Request it within 15 calendar days of that payment. The full terms are in the Refund Policy.
Enterprise features stop. The archive itself is unaffected: archiving, search and retrieval keep running, and your mail stays in your own storage and database in its original format. You can also move back to the open-source edition at any time without losing your archive, by changing the image tag back to logiclabshq/open-archiver:latest and restarting, the same way you switched to Enterprise.
Enterprise covers compliance and advanced security: retention policies and legal holds, the tamper-evident audit log, integrity reports for auditors, journaling, and two-factor authentication. Capture, storage, encryption at rest, search and role-based access control are all in the open-source edition. The full comparison is further down this page.
Each license records how many separate deployments it allows, and each deployment identifies itself when it verifies the license. One system running across multiple nodes counts as a single deployment, however many nodes it has. The limit applies to separate installations, such as a standby or a staging copy. Contact us if you need more than one.
Enterprise licenses include email support from the team at hi@openarchiver.com. The open-source edition is supported by the community on GitHub and Discord.
Paddle is the merchant of record for Open Archiver. Invoices are available on your billing page, and you can enter a VAT or tax ID during checkout so reverse charge is applied where it is eligible.
